Twenty-three botanical artists, members of the famed Whirlies, participated in the project, with each completing an illustration of a species that they have since donated to the State Botanical Collection in the RBGV National Herbarium of Victoria.

The aim of The Acacia Project was to study and record a selection of the rare and endangered Acacias growing in RBGV Melbourne.
